It is not the wife who has the rights to her own body, but the husband. In the same way, it is not the husband who has the rights to his own body, but the wife.

For the unbelieving husband is sanctified because of the wife, and the unbelieving wife because of her husband. ¹  Otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.

He lived in the wilderness of Paran. ¹  His mother found a wife for him from the land of Egypt. ² 

Samson’s bride was then given to his best man. ¹ 

who leaves ¹  the husband ²  from her younger days, ³  and forgets her marriage covenant ⁴  made before God. ⁵ 

but did not have marital relations ¹  with her until she gave birth to a son, whom he named ²  Jesus.

He ¹  said to them, “Not everyone can accept this statement, except those to whom it has been given.

So go into the main streets and invite everyone you find to the wedding banquet.’

Now on the third day there was a wedding at Cana ¹  in Galilee. ²  Jesus’ mother ³  was there,

A husband should give to his wife her sexual rights, ¹  and likewise a wife to her husband.

But a married man is concerned about the things of the world, how to please his wife,

“These men are at peace with us. So let them live in the land and travel freely in it, for the land is wide enough ¹  for them. We will take their daughters for wives, and we will give them our daughters to marry. ² 

when David, along with his men, went out ¹  and struck down two hundred Philistine men. David brought their foreskins and presented all of them to the king so he could become the king’s son-in-law. Saul then gave him his daughter Michal in marriage.

“‘Then I passed by you and watched you, noticing ¹  that you had reached the age for love. ²  I spread my cloak ³  over you and covered your nakedness. I swore a solemn oath to you and entered into a marriage covenant with you, declares the sovereign Lord, and you became mine.

Finally Jacob said ¹  to Laban, “Give me my wife, for my time of service is up. ²  I want to have marital relations with her.” ³ 

In the evening he brought his daughter Leah ¹  to Jacob, ²  and Jacob ³  had marital relations with her. ⁴ 

Then we will give ¹  you our daughters to marry, ²  and we will take your daughters as wives for ourselves, and we will live among you and become one people.

¹ “If a man seduces a virgin ²  who is not engaged ³  and has sexual relations with her, he must surely endow ⁴  her to be his wife.

If her father refuses to give her to him, he must pay money for the bride price of virgins.

You must not take a woman in marriage and then marry her sister as a rival wife ¹  while she is still alive, ²  to have sexual intercourse with her.
