His sister stationed herself ¹  at a distance to find out ²  what would ³  happen to him.

so that he may initiate a search of the records ¹  of his predecessors ²  and discover in those records ³  that this city is rebellious ⁴  and injurious to both kings and provinces, producing internal revolts ⁵  from long ago. ⁶  It is for this very reason that this city was destroyed.

“With God ¹  are wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his. ² 

To whom ¹  did you utter these words? And whose spirit has come forth from your mouth? ² 

He delivers the afflicted by ¹  their ²  afflictions, he reveals himself to them ³  by their suffering.

So now, you kings, do what is wise; ¹  you rulers of the earth, submit to correction! ² 

But ¹  you are willing to forgive, ²  so that you might ³  be honored. ⁴ 

To ¹  learn ²  wisdom ³  and moral instruction, ⁴  and to discern ⁵  wise counsel. ⁶ 

Do not let them depart ¹  from your sight, guard ²  them within your heart; ³ 

in order to safeguard ¹  discretion, ²  and that your lips may guard knowledge.

Go to the ant, you sluggard; ¹  observe its ways and be wise!

How long, you sluggard, will you lie there? When will you rise from your sleep? ¹ 

All of them are clear ¹  to the discerning and upright to those who find knowledge.

Abandon your foolish ways ¹  so that you may live, ²  and proceed ³  in the way of understanding.”

The one who loves discipline loves knowledge, ¹  but the one who hates reproof is stupid. ² 

The fear of the Lord provides wise instruction, ¹  and before honor comes humility. ² 

Judgments ¹  are prepared for scorners, and floggings for the backs of fools.

For my yoke is easy to bear, and my load is not hard to carry.”

And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge says! ¹ 

Therefore, be ¹  imitators of God as dearly loved children
