The king then said to the prophet, “Come home with me and have something to eat. I’d like to give a present.”

If my footsteps have strayed from the way, if my heart has gone after my eyes, ¹  or if anything ²  has defiled my hands,

But as for me, ¹  because of your great faithfulness I will enter your house; ²  I will bow down toward your holy temple as I worship you. ³ 

Then I set cups and pitchers full of wine in front of the members of the Rechabite community and said to them, “Have some wine.” ¹ 

As ¹  Jesus ²  was having a meal ³  in Matthew’s ⁴  house, many tax collectors ⁵  and sinners came and ate with Jesus and his disciples.

So they prepared a dinner for Jesus ¹  there. Martha ²  was serving, and Lazarus was among those present at the table ³  with him.

The following day ¹  he entered Caesarea. ²  Now Cornelius was waiting anxiously ³  for them and had called together his relatives and close friends.

So he gave orders to have them baptized ¹  in the name of Jesus Christ. ²  Then they asked him to stay for several days.

God is faithful, by whom you were called into fellowship with his son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one ¹  who called you by the grace of Christ ²  and are following ³  a different ⁴  gospel –

He called you to this salvation ¹  through our gospel, so that you may possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. ² 

For to this you were called, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving an example for you to follow in his steps.

The Levite ¹  said to him, “We are traveling from Bethlehem ²  in Judah to the remote region of the Ephraimite hill country. That’s where I’m from. I had business in Bethlehem in Judah, but now I’m heading home. ³  But no one has invited me into their home.

Be careful ¹  not to make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, for when ²  they prostitute themselves ³  to their gods and sacrifice to their gods, and someone invites you, ⁴  you will eat from his sacrifice;

Hezekiah sent messages throughout Israel and Judah; he even wrote letters to Ephraim and Manasseh, summoning them to come to the Lord’s temple in Jerusalem ¹  and observe a Passover celebration for the Lord God of Israel.

in the third ¹  year of his reign he provided a banquet for all his officials and his servants. The army ²  of Persia and Media ³  was present, ⁴  as well as the nobles and the officials of the provinces.

But they do not realize ¹  that the dead ²  are there, that her guests are in the depths of the grave. ³
