Jeuz, Sakia, and Mirmah. These were his sons; they were family leaders.

While Ornan was threshing wheat, he turned and saw the messenger, and he and his four sons hid themselves.

If his children increase – it is for the sword! ¹  His offspring never have enough to eat. ² 

The descendants of Jacob will enjoy their former privileges. Their community will be reestablished in my favor ¹  and I will punish all who try to oppress them.

Just as lion cubs are born predators, ¹  so Ephraim will bear his sons for slaughter.

They attacked Judah and swept through it. ¹  They carried off everything they found in the royal palace, ²  including his sons and wives. None of his sons was left, except for his youngest, Ahaziah.

On that very day Noah entered the ark, accompanied by his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, along with his wife and his sons’ three wives. ¹ 

Then God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.

His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah ¹  near Mamre, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar, the Hethite.

Then Isaac breathed his last and joined his ancestors. ¹  He died an old man who had lived a full life. ²  His sons Esau and Jacob buried him.

Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons ¹  because he was a son born to him late in life, ²  and he made a special ³  tunic for him.

All his sons and daughters stood by ¹  him to console him, but he refused to be consoled. “No,” he said, “I will go to the grave mourning my son.” ²  So Joseph’s ³  father wept for him.

These were the sons of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob in Paddan Aram, along with Dinah his daughter. His sons and daughters numbered thirty-three in all. ¹ 

After these things Joseph was told, ¹  “Your father is weakening.” So he took his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim with him.

Jacob called for his sons and said, “Gather together so I can tell you ¹  what will happen to you in the future. ² 

When Jacob finished giving these instructions to his sons, he pulled his feet up onto the bed, breathed his last breath, and went ¹  to his people.

Then Moses took ¹  his wife and sons ²  and put them on a donkey and headed back ³  to the land of Egypt, and Moses took the staff of God in his hand.

“You are to clothe them – your brother Aaron and his sons with him – and anoint them ¹  and ordain them ²  and set them apart as holy, ³  so that they may minister as my priests.

and wrap the sashes around Aaron and his sons ¹  and put headbands on them, and so the ministry of priesthood will belong to them by a perpetual ordinance. Thus you are to consecrate ²  Aaron and his sons.

You are to put all these ¹  in Aaron’s hands ²  and in his sons’ hands, and you are to wave them as a wave offering ³  before the Lord.
