When Baal-Hanan died, Hadad succeeded him; the name of his city was Pai. ¹  His wife was Mehetabel, daughter of Matred, daughter of Me-Zahab.

Now Makir married a wife from the Huppites and Shuppites. ¹  (His sister’s name was Maacah.) Zelophehad was Manasseh’s second son; ²  he had only daughters.

Maacah, Makir’s wife, gave birth to a son, whom she named Peresh. His brother was Sheresh, and his sons were Ulam and Rekem.

I was with you wherever you went and I defeated ¹  all your enemies before you. Now I will make you as famous as the great men of the earth. ² 

He set up the pillars in front of the temple, one on the right side and the other on the left. ¹  He named the one on the right Jachin, ²  and the one on the left Boaz. ³ 

Help us, O God, our deliverer! For the sake of your glorious reputation, ¹  rescue us! Forgive our sins for the sake of your reputation! ²

One will say, ‘I belong to the Lord,’ and another will use ¹  the name ‘Jacob.’ One will write on his hand, ‘The Lord’s,’ and use the name ‘Israel.’” ² 

I will set up within my temple and my walls a monument ¹  that will be better than sons and daughters. I will set up a permanent monument ²  for them that will remain.

How long will they go on plotting ¹  to make my people forget who I am ²  through the dreams they tell one another? That is just as bad as what their ancestors ³  did when they forgot who I am by worshiping the god Baal. ⁴ 

Oholah was the name of the older and Oholibah ¹  the name of her younger sister. They became mine, and gave birth to sons and daughters. ²  Oholah is Samaria and Oholibah is Jerusalem.

Though all the nations follow their respective gods, ¹  we will follow ²  the Lord our God forever.

Then I will make you ¹  into a great nation, and I will bless you, ²  and I will make your name great, ³  so that you will exemplify divine blessing. ⁴ 

Leah said, “How fortunate!” ¹  So she named him Gad. ² 

After that she gave birth to a daughter and named her Dinah.

Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom; the name of his city was Dinhabah.

She became pregnant ¹  and had a son. Judah named ²  him Er.

She became pregnant again and had another son, whom she named Onan.
