She said, “Did I ask my master for a son? Didn’t I say, ‘Don’t mislead me?’”

Naaman ¹  went and told his master what the girl from the land of Israel had said.

Now let my lord send to his servants the wheat, barley, olive oil, and wine he has promised;

Jeroboam son of Nebat, a servant of Solomon son of David, rose up and rebelled against his master.

The men of Tekoa worked on the section adjacent to them, but their town leaders ¹  would not assist ²  with the work of their master. ³ 

They say, ¹  “We speak persuasively; ²  we know how to flatter and boast. ³  Who is our master?” ⁴ 

Then ¹  the king will be attracted by ²  your beauty. After all, he is your master! Submit ³  to him! ⁴ 

The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of the whole earth.

A psalm of David. Here is the Lord’s proclamation ²  to my lord: ³  “Sit down at my right hand ⁴  until I make your enemies your footstool!” ⁵ 

Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest, ¹  so is a faithful messenger to those who send him, for he refreshes the heart ²  of his masters.

Therefore, the sovereign Lord who commands armies, ¹  the powerful ruler of Israel, ²  says this: “Ah, I will seek vengeance ³  against my adversaries, I will take revenge against my enemies. ⁴ 

Look, the sovereign master, the Lord who commands armies, is ready to cut off the branches with terrifying power. ¹  The tallest trees ²  will be cut down, the loftiest ones will be brought low.

O Lord, our God, masters other than you have ruled us, but we praise your name alone.

I heard, but I did not understand. So I said, “Sir, ¹  what will happen after these things?”

Then I asked the messenger who spoke with me, “What are these, ¹  sir?”

He replied, “Don’t you know what these are?” And I said, “No, sir.”

So he said, “These are the two anointed ones ¹  who stand by the Lord of the whole earth.”

Then I asked the angelic messenger ¹  who was speaking with me, “What are these, sir?”

Then the servant took ten of his master’s camels and departed with all kinds of gifts from his master at his disposal. ¹  He journeyed ²  to the region of Aram Naharaim ³  and the city of Nahor.

Then I bowed down and worshiped the Lord. I praised the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who had led me on the right path to find the granddaughter ¹  of my master’s brother for his son.
