Jesus replied, ¹  “This is the deed ²  God requires ³  – to believe in the one whom he ⁴  sent.”

They asked the parents, ¹  “Is this your son, whom you say ²  was born blind? Then how does he now see?”

do you say about the one whom the Father set apart ¹  and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?

Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom he ¹  had raised from the dead.

so that the word ¹  of Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled. He said, ²  “Lord, who has believed our message, and to whom has the arm of the Lord ³  been revealed?” ⁴ 

One of his disciples, the one Jesus loved, ¹  was at the table ²  to the right of Jesus in a place of honor. ³ 

Now this ¹  is eternal life ²  – that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, ³  whom you sent.

So when Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, “Woman, ¹  look, here is your son!”

But God raised him up, ¹  having released ²  him from the pains ³  of death, because it was not possible for him to be held in its power. ⁴ 

Therefore let all the house of Israel know beyond a doubt ¹  that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified ²  both Lord ³  and Christ.” ⁴ 

You killed ¹  the Originator ²  of life, whom God raised ³  from the dead. To this fact we are witnesses! ⁴ 

This one ¹  heaven must ²  receive until the time all things are restored, ³  which God declared ⁴  from times long ago ⁵  through his holy prophets.

So Peter went down ¹  to the men and said, “Here I am, ²  the person you’re looking for. Why have you come?”

We ¹  are witnesses of all the things he did both in Judea ²  and in Jerusalem. ³  They ⁴  killed him by hanging him on a tree, ⁵ 

When he had seized him, he put him in prison, handing him over to four squads ¹  of soldiers to guard him. Herod ²  planned ³  to bring him out for public trial ⁴  after the Passover.

So now why are you putting God to the test ¹  by placing on the neck of the disciples a yoke ²  that neither our ancestors ³  nor we have been able to bear?

(For they had seen Trophimus the Ephesian in the city with him previously, and ¹  they assumed Paul had brought him into the inner temple courts.) ² 

I answered, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ He said to me, ‘I am Jesus the Nazarene, whom you are persecuting.’

Rather they had several points of disagreement ¹  with him about their own religion ²  and about a man named Jesus ³  who was dead, whom Paul claimed ⁴  to be alive.

So I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And the Lord replied, ¹  ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.
