My heart went out ¹  to Israel’s leaders, to the people who answered the call to war. Praise the Lord!

for the wicked seem to be everywhere, ¹  when people promote evil. ² 

The Lord rescues his servants; ¹  all who take shelter in him escape punishment. ² 

O God, you cause abundant showers to fall ¹  on your chosen people. ²  When they ³  are tired, you sustain them, ⁴ 

All day long he craves greedily, ¹  but the righteous gives and does not hold back. ² 

He spoke openly about this. So ¹  Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.

This is why the Father loves me ¹  – because I lay down my life, ²  so that I may take it back again.

He was speaking and debating ¹  with the Greek-speaking Jews, ²  but they were trying to kill him.

(For the Sadducees say there is no resurrection, or angel, or spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.) ¹ 

For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousness ¹  and with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation. ² 

So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.

For I testify, they gave according to their means and beyond their means. They did so voluntarily, ¹ 

Just as it is written, “He ¹  has scattered widely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness remains forever.” ² 

But I say, live ¹  by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. ² 

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be ¹  with your spirit, brothers and sisters. ²  Amen.

Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he captured ¹  captives; he gave gifts to men.” ² 

Instead, ¹  be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you. ² 

As a result God exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name,

Instead he must be hospitable, devoted to what is good, sensible, upright, devout, and self-controlled.

You may live ¹  among us, and the land will be open to you. ²  Live in it, travel freely in it, ³  and acquire property in it.”
