If I smiled at them, they hardly believed it; ¹  and they did not cause the light of my face to darken. ² 

Because God has untied ¹  my tent cord and afflicted me, people throw off all restraint in my presence. ² 

Because they are bent on violence, do not let them escape! ¹  In your anger ²  bring down the nations, ³  O God!

But you have spurned ¹  and rejected him; you are angry with your chosen king. ² 

May he rain down ¹  fiery coals upon them! May he throw them into the fire! From bottomless pits they will not escape. ² 

When there is no prophetic vision ¹  the people cast off restraint, ²  but the one who keeps the law, ³  blessed is he! ⁴ 

Whoever does not bow down and pay homage will immediately ¹  be thrown into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire!”

You are to make for the hanging five posts of acacia wood and overlay them with gold, and their hooks will be ¹  gold, and you are to cast five bronze bases for them. ²

You threw me ¹  into the deep waters, ²  into the middle ³  of the sea; ⁴  the ocean current ⁵  engulfed ⁶  me; all the mighty waves ⁷  you sent ⁸  swept ⁹  over me.

You will once again ¹  have mercy on us; you will conquer ²  our evil deeds; you will hurl our ³  sins into the depths of the sea. ⁴
