He restored the chief cupbearer to his former position ¹  so that he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand,

Then the chief cupbearer said to Pharaoh, “Today I recall my failures. ¹ 

“So now Pharaoh should look ¹  for a wise and discerning man ²  and give him authority ³  over all the land of Egypt.

You must say ¹  to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says ²  the Lord, “Israel is my son, my firstborn, ³ 

Pharaoh was thinking, ¹  “The people of the land are now many, and you are giving them rest from their labor.”

The following events also occurred ¹  while the Babylonian forces ²  had temporarily withdrawn from Jerusalem ³  because the army of Pharaoh was coming.

The Lord spoke to the prophet Jeremiah ¹  about the Philistines before Pharaoh attacked Gaza. ² 

By faith, when he grew up, Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,

The Lord God of Israel who rules over all ¹  says, “I will punish Amon, the god of Thebes. ²  I will punish Egypt, its gods, and its kings. I will punish Pharaoh and all who trust in him. ³ 

The chariots of Pharaoh ¹  and his army he has thrown into the sea, and his chosen ²  officers were drowned ³  in the Red Sea.

Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Yes, do so.” ¹  So the young girl ²  went and got ³  the child’s mother. ⁴ 

And Pharaoh turned and went into his house. He did not pay any attention to this. ¹ 

Jehoiakim paid Pharaoh the required amount of silver and gold, but to meet Pharaoh’s demands Jehoiakim had to tax the land. He collected an assessed amount from each man among the people of the land in order to pay Pharaoh Necho. ¹ 

So Pharaoh summoned Abram and said, “What is this ¹  you have done to me? Why didn’t you tell me that she was your wife?

Pharaoh gave his men orders about Abram, ¹  and so they expelled him, along with his wife and all his possessions.

Now ¹  in Egypt the Midianites ²  sold Joseph ³  to Potiphar, one of Pharaoh’s officials, the captain of the guard. ⁴ 

The bad-looking, thin cows ate the seven fine-looking, fat cows. Then Pharaoh woke up.

The thin heads swallowed up the seven healthy and full heads. Then Pharaoh woke up and realized it was a dream. ¹ 

So Pharaoh asked his officials, “Can we find a man like Joseph, ¹  one in whom the Spirit of God is present?” ² 

So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Because God has enabled you to know all this, there is no one as wise and discerning ¹  as you are!
