This brought him a reward, an eternal gift. ¹ 

for they aroused ¹  his temper, ²  and he spoke rashly. ³ 

They did not destroy the nations, ¹  as the Lord had commanded them to do.

They mixed in with the nations and learned their ways. ¹ 

They worshiped ¹  their idols, which became a snare to them. ² 

They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons. ¹ 

They were defiled by their deeds, and unfaithful in their actions. ¹ 

Their enemies oppressed them; they were subject to their authority. ¹ 

Yet he took notice of their distress, when he heard their cry for help.

He caused all their conquerors ¹  to have pity on them.

The ¹  first living creature was like a lion, the ²  second creature like an ox, the third creature had a face like a man’s, and the fourth creature looked like an eagle flying.

So they came near and carried them away in their tunics to a place outside the camp just as Moses had spoken.

When you blow an alarm, ¹  then the camps that are located ²  on the east side must begin to travel. ³ 

When his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell on his sword and died.

He said to them, “Go away for three days, then return to me.” So the people went away.

They glide by ¹  like reed ²  boats, like an eagle that swoops ³  down on its prey. ⁴ 

Is it at your command ¹  that the eagle soars, and builds its nest on high?

The Lord approves of ¹  the godly, ²  but he ³  hates ⁴  the wicked and those who love to do violence. ⁵ 

who satisfies your life with good things, ¹  so your youth is renewed like an eagle’s. ² 

Give thanks to the Lord! Call on his name! Make known his accomplishments among the nations!
