For the king trusts ¹  in the Lord, and because of the sovereign Lord’s ²  faithfulness he is not upended. ³ 

But as for me, my feet almost slipped; my feet almost slid out from under me. ¹ 

Then you will walk on your way ¹  with security, and you ²  will not stumble. ³ 

The way of the wicked is like gloomy darkness; ¹  they do not know what causes them to stumble. ² 

The wicked ¹  will be captured by his ²  own iniquities, ³  and he will be held ⁴  by the cords of his own sin. ⁵ 

who led them through the deep water? Like a horse running on flat land ¹  they did not stumble.

But if anyone walks around at night, ¹  he stumbles, ²  because the light is not in him.”

We do not give anyone ¹  an occasion for taking an offense in anything, ²  so that no fault may be found with our ministry.

for you were at one time darkness, but now you are ¹  light in the Lord. Walk as children of the light –

Because they used to minister to them before their idols, and became a sinful obstacle ¹  to the house of Israel, consequently I have made a vow ²  concerning them, declares the sovereign Lord, that they will be responsible ³  for their sin.

The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather from his kingdom everything that causes sin as well as all lawbreakers. ¹ 

When Jesus was aware ¹  that his disciples were complaining ²  about this, he said to them, “Does this cause you to be offended? ³ 

so that you can decide what is best, and thus be sincere and blameless for the day of Christ,

Who is wise? Let him discern ¹  these things! Who is discerning? Let him understand them! For the ways of the Lord are right; the godly walk in them, but in them the rebellious stumble.

The charioteers ¹  will charge ahead; ²  their swords ³  will flash ⁴  and their spears ⁵  will glimmer! ⁶  There will be many people slain; ⁷  there will be piles of the dead, and countless casualties ⁸  – so many that people ⁹  will stumble over the corpses.

“But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, ¹  it would be better for him to have a huge millstone ²  hung around his neck and to be drowned in the open sea. ³

If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off! It is better for you to enter into life crippled than to have ¹  two hands and go into hell, ²  to the unquenchable fire. ³ 

If your foot causes you to sin, cut it off! It is better to enter life lame than to have ¹  two feet and be thrown into hell. ² 

Then Jesus spoke out again, ¹  “I am the light of the world. ²  The one who follows me will never ³  walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
