Fill up then the measure of your ancestors!

Now some of the experts in the law ¹  were sitting there, turning these things over in their minds: ² 

Then Peter and the other disciple set out to go to the tomb. ¹ 

Now as she and her two daughters-in-law began to leave the place where she had been living to return to the land of Judah, ¹ 

Hezekiah ordered the burnt sacrifice to be offered on the altar. As they began to offer the sacrifice, they also began to sing to the Lord, accompanied by the trumpets and the musical instruments of King David of Israel.

From one of them came a small horn. ¹  But it grew to be very big, toward the south and the east and toward the beautiful land. ² 

Then ¹  he began to speak to them in parables: “A man planted a vineyard. ²  He put a fence around it, dug a pit for its winepress, and built a watchtower. Then ³  he leased it to tenant farmers ⁴  and went on a journey.

But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the people ¹  had started ²  building.

So Jacob went on his way and the angels of God ¹  met him.

So Balaam got up in the morning, saddled his donkey, and went with the princes of Moab.

They turned and went on their way, but they walked behind the children, the cattle, and their possessions. ¹ 

So he started back on another road; he did not travel back on the same road he had taken to Bethel.

Elisha ¹  said to him, “Go in peace.” When he had gone a short distance, ² 

He began building on the second day of the second month of the fourth year of his reign. ¹ 

The Lord stirred up against Jehoram the Philistines ¹  and the Arabs who lived beside the Cushites.

In the third month they began piling their contributions in heaps ¹  and finished in the seventh month.

Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he ruled for eleven years in Jerusalem. ¹ 

Then the local people ¹  began to discourage ²  the people of Judah and to dishearten them from building.

for I do not know how to give honorary titles, ¹  if I did, ²  my Creator would quickly do away with me. ³ 

Like charcoal is to burning coals, and wood to fire, so is a contentious person ¹  to kindle strife. ²
