But Jesus ¹  turned and rebuked them, ² 

(Now he said this to indicate clearly what kind of death he was going to die.) ¹ 

So Paul ¹  said, “Into what then were you baptized?” “Into John’s baptism,” they replied. ² 

So then, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.

and their message will spread its infection ¹  like gangrene. Hymenaeus and Philetus are in this group. ² 

For he gazes at himself and then goes out and immediately forgets ¹  what sort of person he was.

All unrighteousness ¹  is sin, but there is sin not resulting in death. ² 

The land produced vegetation – plants yielding seeds according to their kinds, and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. God saw that it was good.

God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: cattle, creeping things, and wild animals, each according to its kind.” ¹  It was so.

Too bad for us! Who can deliver us from the hand of these mighty gods? These are the gods who struck the Egyptians with all sorts of plagues in the desert!

When Jehu rejoined ¹  his master’s servants, they ²  asked him, “Is everything all right? ³  Why did this madman visit you?” He replied, “Ah, it’s not important. You know what kind of man he is and the kinds of things he says.” ⁴ 

He deported all the residents of Jerusalem, including all the officials and all the soldiers (10,000 people in all). This included all the craftsmen and those who worked with metal. No one was left except for the poorest among the people of the land.

This is what the Lord says: “The heavens are my throne and the earth is my footstool. Where then is the house you will build for me? Where is the place where I will rest?

So I went in and looked. I noticed every figure ¹  of creeping thing and beast – detestable images ²  – and every idol of the house of Israel, engraved on the wall all around. ³ 

He has filled him with the Spirit of God – with skill, with understanding, with knowledge, and in all kinds of work,

and in cutting stones for their setting, ¹  and in cutting wood, to do work in every artistic craft. ² 

On the first day there will be a holy assembly for you; you must not do any regular work. ¹ 

And on the first day there is to be a holy assembly; you must do no ordinary work ¹  on it.

‘Cursed is the one who commits bestiality.’ ¹  Then all the people will say, ‘Amen!’

They contacted ¹  me four times in this way, and I responded the same way each time. ²
