Staring at him and becoming greatly afraid, Cornelius ¹  replied, ²  “What is it, Lord?” The angel ³  said to him, “Your prayers and your acts of charity ⁴  have gone up as a memorial ⁵  before God.

“Drink, my lord,” she replied, and quickly lowering ¹  her jug to her hands, she gave him a drink.

We are all the sons of one man; we are honest men! Your servants are not spies.”

Now you say, ‘Go and say to your master, “Elijah is back,”’ ¹  but he will kill me.”

Every wise woman ¹  builds ²  her household, ³  but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.

So I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And the Lord replied, ¹  ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.

They replied, “You have saved our lives! You are showing us favor, ¹  and we will be Pharaoh’s slaves.” ² 

Aaron said, “Do not let your anger burn hot, my lord; ¹  you know these people, that they tend to evil. ² 

and said to him, ¹  “Your servants have taken a count ²  of the men who were in the battle, who were under our authority, ³  and not one is missing.

but your servants will cross over, every man armed for war, to do battle in the Lord’s presence, just as my lord says.”

Then the Gadites and the Reubenites answered, “Your servants will do what the Lord has spoken. ¹ 

Then Joab said to the Cushite, “Go and tell the king what you have seen.” After bowing to Joab, the Cushite ran off.

Obadiah ¹  said, “What sin have I committed that you are ready to hand your servant over to Ahab for execution? ² 

I heard, but I did not understand. So I said, “Sir, ¹  what will happen after these things?”

Then the slave threw himself to the ground ¹  before him, saying, ²  ‘Be patient with me, and I will repay you everything.’

She answered, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”

So he said, “Who are you, Lord?” He replied, “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting!

I answered, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ He said to me, ‘I am Jesus the Nazarene, whom you are persecuting.’

“No, my lord! Hear me out. I sell ¹  you both the field and the cave that is in it. ²  In the presence of my people ³  I sell it to you. Bury your dead.”

She quickly lowered her jug from her shoulder and said, ‘Drink, and I’ll give your camels water too.’ So I drank, and she also gave the camels water.
