“What ¹  profit is there in taking my life, ²  in my descending into the Pit? ³  Can the dust of the grave ⁴  praise you? Can it declare your loyalty? ⁵ 

People will curse ¹  the one who withholds grain, ²  but they will praise ³  the one who sells it. ⁴ 

For there was no one needy ¹  among them, because those who were owners of land or houses were selling ²  them ³  and bringing the proceeds from the sales

He answered her, “While I was talking to Naboth the Jezreelite, I said to him, ‘Sell me your vineyard for silver, or if you prefer, I will give you another vineyard in its place.’ But he said, ‘I will not sell you my vineyard.’” ¹ 

Yes, you would gamble ¹  for the fatherless, and auction off ²  your friend.

Will partners ¹  bargain ²  for it? Will they divide it up ³  among the merchants?

She makes linen garments ¹  and sells them, and supplies the merchants ²  with sashes.

This is what the Lord says: “Where is your mother’s divorce certificate by which I divorced her? Or to which of my creditors did I sell you? ¹  Look, you were sold because of your sins; ²  because of your rebellious acts I divorced your mother. ³ 

“No, my lord! Hear me out. I sell ¹  you both the field and the cave that is in it. ²  In the presence of my people ³  I sell it to you. Bury your dead.”

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into this or that town ¹  and spend a year there and do business and make a profit.”

“If a man sells his daughter ¹  as a female servant, ²  she will not go out as the male servants do.

The fatherless child is snatched ¹  from the breast, ²  the infant of the poor is taken as a pledge. ³ 

Acquire wisdom, acquire understanding; do not forget and do not turn aside from the words I speak. ¹ 

the lambs will be for your clothing, and the goats will be for the price of a field. ¹ 

Those who pull evil along using cords of emptiness are as good as dead, ¹  who pull sin as with cart ropes. ² 

and they began selling ¹  their property ²  and possessions and distributing the proceeds ³  to everyone, as anyone had need.

saying, “Give me this power ¹  too, so that everyone I place my hands on may receive the Holy Spirit.”

And now, though we share the same flesh and blood as our fellow countrymen, ¹  and our children are just like their children, ²  still we have found it necessary to subject our sons and daughters to slavery. ³  Some of our daughters have been subjected to slavery, while we are powerless to help, ⁴  since our fields and vineyards now belong to other people.” ⁵ 

Later Reuben returned to the cistern to find that Joseph was not in it! ¹  He tore his clothes,

Then Joseph said, “If your money is gone, bring your livestock, and I will give you food ¹  in exchange for ²  your livestock.”
