“Who then is the faithful and wise slave, ¹  whom the master has put in charge of his household, to give the other slaves ²  their food at the proper time?

You hypocrites! ¹  You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how can you not know how ²  to interpret the present time?

Now ¹  there were some present on that occasion who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. ² 

“The Israelites are to observe ¹  the Passover ²  at its appointed time. ³ 

When they are scorched, ¹  they dry up, when it is hot, they vanish ²  from their place.

Like apples of gold in settings of silver, ¹  so is a word skillfully spoken. ²

but you must sacrifice it ¹  in the evening in ²  the place where he ³  chooses to locate his name, at sunset, the time of day you came out of Egypt.

When it was time for her to give birth, there were twins in her womb.

For a long time ¹  Israel had no true God, or priest to instruct them, or law.

Do you count the months they must fulfill, and do you know the time they give birth? ¹

choosing rather to be ill-treated with the people of God than to enjoy sin’s fleeting pleasure.

This brings you great joy, ¹  although you may have to suffer ²  for a short time in various trials.
