Until I come, give attention to the public reading of scripture, ¹  to exhortation, to teaching.

The Son of Man will go as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for him if he had never been born.”

(His disciples did not understand these things when they first happened, ¹  but when Jesus was glorified, ²  then they remembered that these things were written about him and that these things had happened ³  to him.) ⁴ 

Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under ¹  the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world may be held accountable to God.

Rather, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing this you will be heaping burning coals on his head. ¹ 

For all who ¹  rely on doing the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not keep on doing everything written in the book of the law.” ² 

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming ¹  a curse for us (because it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”) ² 

For it says ¹  in scripture, “Look, I lay in Zion a stone, a chosen and priceless cornerstone, ²  and whoever believes ³  in him ⁴  will never ⁵  be put to shame.” ⁶ 

Jesus said to him, “Once again it is written: ‘You are not to put the Lord your God to the test.’” ¹ 

He ¹  said to them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry –

Now as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, ¹ 

Have you not read this scripture: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. ¹ 

Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man ¹  does not live by bread alone.’” ² 

Jesus ¹  answered him, ²  “It is said, ‘You are not to put the Lord your God to the test.’” ³ 

Then the Jewish leaders ¹  were astonished ²  and said, “How does this man know so much when he has never had formal instruction?” ³ 

Jesus answered, ¹  “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, you are gods’? ² 

If those people to whom the word of God came were called ‘gods’ (and the scripture cannot be broken), ¹ 

After this Jesus, realizing that by this time ¹  everything was completed, ²  said (in order to fulfill the scripture), ³  “I am thirsty!” ⁴ 

For these things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled, “Not a bone of his will be broken.” ¹
