Then ¹  the angel ²  said to me, “Write the following: Blessed are those who are invited to the banquet at the wedding celebration of the Lamb!” He also said to me, “These are the true words of God.”

When Moses told ¹  these things to all the Israelites, the people mourned ²  greatly.

That is why those who speak in proverbs ¹  say, “Come to Heshbon, let it be built. Let the city of Sihon be established! ² 

So David’s servants went on their way. When they had returned, they came and told David ¹  all these things.

Job ¹  has not directed ²  his words to me, and so I will not reply to him with your arguments. ³ 

In my heart I store up ¹  your words, ²  so I might not sin against you.

Your words are sweeter in my mouth than honey! ¹ 

You despise ¹  all who stray from your statutes, for they are deceptive and unreliable. ² 

They will talk about the fame of your great kindness, ¹  and sing about your justice. ² 

at the head of the noisy ¹  streets she calls, in the entrances of the gates in the city ²  she utters her words: ³ 

if ¹  you have been ensnared ²  by the words you have uttered, ³  and have been caught by the words you have spoken,

My child, ²  keep my words and treasure up my commands in your own keeping. ³ 

Incline your ear ²  and listen to the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my instruction. ³ 

These also are proverbs of Solomon, which the men of King Hezekiah of Judah copied: ¹ 

The Teacher sought to find delightful ¹  words, and to write ²  accurately truthful sayings. ³ 

When ¹  they heard ²  this they became enraged ³  and began to shout, ⁴  “Great is Artemis ⁵  of the Ephesians!”

My teaching will drop like the rain, my sayings will drip like the dew, ¹  as rain drops upon the grass, and showers upon new growth.

Manoah said to the Lord’s messenger, “Tell us your name, so we can honor you when your announcement comes true.” ¹ 

Your attendants, who stand before you at all times and hear your wise sayings, are truly happy! ¹
