By David; a well-written song. ²  How blessed ³  is the one whose rebellious acts are forgiven, ⁴  whose sin is pardoned! ⁵ 

Indeed God strikes the heads of his enemies, the hairy foreheads of those who persist in rebellion. ¹ 

Do not disregard ¹  what your enemies say, ²  or the unceasing shouts of those who defy you. ³ 

He says, ¹  “Do not be stubborn like they were at Meribah, ²  like they were that day at Massah ³  in the wilderness, ⁴ 

Many times he delivered ¹  them, but they had a rebellious attitude, ²  and degraded themselves ³  by their sin.

The Lord said to me, “The people of Judah and the citizens of Jerusalem have plotted rebellion against me! ¹ 

According to their uncleanness and rebellion I have dealt with them, and I hid my face from them.

Yet the Lord our God is compassionate and forgiving, ¹  even though we have rebelled against him.

They consume their alcohol, then engage in cult prostitution; they dearly love their shameful behavior.

Jesus said to them, “Have you come with swords and clubs to arrest me like you would an outlaw? ¹ 

A man named Barabbas was imprisoned with rebels who had committed murder during an insurrection.

(This ¹  was a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection ²  started in the city, and for murder.) ³ 

For where there is jealousy and selfishness, there is disorder and every evil practice.

keeping loyal love for thousands, ¹  forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin. But he by no means leaves the guilty unpunished, responding to the transgression ²  of fathers by dealing with children and children’s children, to the third and fourth generation.”

So ¹  he is to make atonement for the holy place from the impurities of the Israelites and from their transgressions with regard to all their sins, ²  and thus he is to do for the Meeting Tent which resides with them in the midst of their impurities.

Aaron is to lay his two hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the iniquities of the Israelites and all their transgressions in regard to all their sins, ¹  and thus he is to put them ²  on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man standing ready. ³ 

Then I heard a holy one ¹  speaking. Another holy one said to the one who was speaking, “To what period of time does the vision pertain – this vision concerning the daily sacrifice and the destructive act of rebellion and the giving over of both the sanctuary and army to be trampled?”

“Seventy weeks ¹  have been determined concerning your people and your holy city to put an end to ²  rebellion, to bring sin ³  to completion, ⁴  to atone for iniquity, to bring in perpetual ⁵  righteousness, to seal up ⁶  the prophetic vision, ⁷  and to anoint a most holy place. ⁸ 

Take heed because of him, and obey his voice; do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgressions, for my name ¹  is in him.

and rebelled against Moses, along with some of the Israelites, 250 leaders ¹  of the community, chosen from the assembly, ²  famous men. ³
