You know when I sit down and when I get up; even from far away you understand my motives.

The human mind is more deceitful than anything else. It is incurably bad. ¹  Who can understand it?

Though you have eyes, don’t you see? And though you have ears, can’t you hear? ¹  Don’t you remember?

When they sprout leaves, you see ¹  for yourselves and know that summer is now near.

If someone thinks he knows something, he does not yet know to the degree that he needs to know.

Now ¹  by this we know that we have come to know God: ²  if we keep his commandments.

And by this ¹  we will know that we are of the truth and will convince ²  our conscience ³  in his presence, ⁴ 

You seem to love your enemies and hate your friends! For you have as much as declared today that leaders and servants don’t matter to you. I realize now ¹  that if ²  Absalom were alive and all of us were dead today, ³  it would be all right with you.

How much less, then, when you say that you do not perceive him, that the case is before him and you are waiting for him! ¹ 

You will no longer see a defiant ¹  people whose language you do not comprehend, ²  whose derisive speech you do not understand. ³ 

Tell them: ‘Hear this, you foolish people who have no understanding, who have eyes but do not discern, who have ears but do not perceive: ¹ 

For this reason I speak to them in parables: Although they see they do not see, and although they hear they do not hear nor do they understand.

Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. ¹  The one who has ears had better listen! ² 

How could you not understand that I was not speaking to you about bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!”

Why ¹  do you see the speck ²  in your brother’s eye, but fail to see ³  the beam of wood ⁴  in your own?

Thus the Pharisees ¹  said to one another, “You see that you can do nothing. Look, the world has run off after him!”

Now this ¹  is eternal life ²  – that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, ³  whom you sent.

“And now ¹  I know that none ²  of you among whom I went around proclaiming the kingdom ³  will see me ⁴  again.

But I will come to you soon, if the Lord is willing, and I will find out not only the talk of these arrogant people, but also their power.

With flaming fire he will mete out ¹  punishment on those who do not know God ²  and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
