He led them with a cloud by day, and with the light of a fire all night long.

You need not fear the terrors of the night, ¹  the arrow that flies by day,

You make it dark and night comes, ¹  during which all the beasts of the forest prowl around.

the moon and stars to rule by night, for his loyal love endures,

If I were to say, “Certainly the darkness will cover me, ¹  and the light will turn to night all around me,” ² 

Then in a night vision the mystery was revealed to Daniel. So Daniel praised ¹  the God of heaven,

telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came at night and stole his body ¹  while we were asleep.’

But if anyone walks around at night, ¹  he stumbles, ²  because the light is not in him.”

So the soldiers, in accordance with their orders, ¹  took ²  Paul and brought him to Antipatris ³  during the night.

For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong ¹  and whom I serve ²  came to me ³ 

Its gates will never be closed during the day ¹  (and ²  there will be no night there). ³

As the night was ending, ¹  Jesus came to them walking on the sea. ²

They meet with darkness in the daytime, ¹  and grope about ²  in the noontime as if it were night. ³ 

Like a dream he flies away, never again to be found, ¹  and like a vision of the night he is put to flight.
