Do not honor yourself before the king, and do not stand in the place of great men;

If you have done foolishly by exalting yourself ¹  or if you have planned evil, put ²  your hand over your mouth!

I will do these things to you ¹  because you engaged in prostitution with the nations, polluting yourself with their idols.

By your wisdom and understanding you have gained wealth for yourself; you have amassed gold and silver in your treasuries.

Listen to what the Lord says: “Get up! Defend yourself ¹  before the mountains! ²  Present your case before the hills!” ³ 

Then ¹  Judas, the one who would betray him, said, “Surely not I, Rabbi?” Jesus ²  replied, “You have said it yourself.”

As you can verify ¹  for yourself, not more than twelve days ago ²  I went up to Jerusalem ³  to worship.

But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law ¹  and boast of your relationship to God ² 

therefore ¹  you who teach someone else, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal?

For the whole law can be summed up in a single commandment, ¹  namely, “You must love your neighbor as yourself.” ² 

Do not lay hands on anyone ¹  hastily and so identify with the sins of others. ²  Keep yourself pure.

Make ¹  for yourself an ark of cypress ²  wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover ³  it with pitch inside and out.

And you must take ¹  for yourself every kind of food ²  that is eaten, ³  and gather it together. ⁴  It will be food for you and for them.

Pharaoh said to him, “Go from me! ¹  Watch out for yourself! Do not appear before me again, ²  for when ³  you see my face you will die!”

Be prepared ¹  in the morning, and go up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and station yourself ²  for me there on the top of the mountain.

You must not make for yourself an image ¹  of anything in heaven above, on earth below, or in the waters beneath. ² 

You must not plant any kind of tree as a sacred Asherah pole ¹  near the altar of the Lord your God which you build for yourself.

You will have olive trees throughout your territory but you will not anoint yourself with olive oil, because the olives will drop off the trees while still unripe. ¹
