My breath is repulsive ¹  to my wife; I am loathsome ²  to my brothers. ³ 

May your fountain be blessed, ¹  and may you rejoice ²  in your young wife ³  –

A house and wealth are inherited from parents, ¹  but a prudent wife ²  is from the Lord.

A continual dripping on a rainy day and a contentious wife ¹  are alike. ² 

Who can find ²  a wife ³  of noble character? ⁴  For her value ⁵  is far more than rubies.

“It was said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife must give her a legal document.’ ¹ 

So ¹  he told them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her.

In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will the woman be? ¹  For all seven had married her.” ² 

Now a man named Ananias, together with Sapphira his wife, sold a piece of property.

And Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, ¹  and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milcah; ²  she was the daughter of Haran, the father of both Milcah and Iscah.

These were the sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah: chief Jeush, chief Jalam, chief Korah. These were the chiefs descended from Esau’s wife Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah.

If he came ¹  in by himself ²  he will go out by himself; if he had ³  a wife when he came in, then his wife will go out with him.

If his master gave ¹  him a wife, and she bore sons or daughters, the wife and the children will belong to her master, and he will go out by himself.

and if jealous feelings ¹  come over him and he becomes suspicious ²  of his wife, when she is defiled; ³  or if jealous feelings come over him and he becomes suspicious of his wife, when she is not defiled –

In the day he divides his inheritance ¹  he must not appoint as firstborn the son of the favorite wife in place of the other ²  wife’s son who is actually the firstborn.

So Manoah got up and followed his wife. When he met ¹  the man, he said to him, “Are you the man who spoke to my wife?” ²  He said, “Yes.” ³ 

Jeroboam told his wife, “Disguise ¹  yourself so that people cannot recognize you are Jeroboam’s wife. Then go to Shiloh; Ahijah the prophet, who told me I would rule over this nation, lives there. ² 

“Indeed, the Lord will call you back like a wife who has been abandoned and suffers from depression, ¹  like a young wife when she has been rejected,” says your God.

Yet you ask, “Why?” The Lord is testifying against you on behalf of the wife you married when you were young, ¹  to whom you have become unfaithful even though she is your companion and wife by law. ² 

It is not the wife who has the rights to her own body, but the husband. In the same way, it is not the husband who has the rights to his own body, but the wife.
