During Jehoram’s ¹  reign Edom freed themselves from Judah’s control and set up their own king. ² 

When the priests and Levites had purified themselves, they purified the people, the gates, and the wall.

He rules ¹  by his power forever; he watches ²  the nations. Stubborn rebels should not exalt ³  themselves. (Selah)

Many times he delivered ¹  them, but they had a rebellious attitude, ²  and degraded themselves ³  by their sin.

Together they bend low and kneel down; they are unable to rescue the images; ¹  they themselves ²  head off into captivity. ³ 

When the disciples heard this, they were overwhelmed with fear and threw themselves down with their faces to the ground. ¹ 

They were devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, ¹  to the breaking of bread and to prayer. ² 

Both Judas and Silas, who were prophets themselves, encouraged and strengthened the brothers with a long speech. ¹ 

I replied, ¹  ‘Lord, they themselves know that I imprisoned and beat those in the various synagogues ²  who believed in you.

Therefore God gave them over ¹  in the desires of their hearts to impurity, to dishonor ²  their bodies among themselves. ³ 

For people ¹  will be lovers of themselves, ²  lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,

But evil people and charlatans will go from bad to worse, ¹  deceiving others and being deceived themselves. ² 

For people ¹  swear by something greater than themselves, ²  and the oath serves as a confirmation to end all dispute. ³ 

And the four living creatures were saying “Amen,” and the elders threw themselves to the ground ¹  and worshiped.

Then the eyes of both of them opened, and they knew they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

the sons of God ¹  saw that the daughters of humankind were beautiful. Thus they took wives for themselves from any they chose.

So Judah and his brothers ¹  came back to Joseph’s house. He was still there, ²  and they threw themselves to the ground before him.

“You must no longer ¹  give straw to the people for making bricks ²  as before. ³  Let them go ⁴  and collect straw for themselves.

They judged the people under normal circumstances; the difficult cases they would bring ¹  to Moses, but every small case they would judge themselves.

So Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Alas, this people has committed a very serious sin, ¹  and they have made for themselves gods of gold.
