“As surely as God lives, ¹  who has denied me justice, ²  the Almighty, who has made my life bitter ³  –

“Surely one does not stretch out his hand against a broken man ¹  when he cries for help in his distress. ² 

Surely ¹  I would wear it proudly ²  on my shoulder, I would bind ³  it on me like a crown;

Surely it is an empty cry ¹  – God does not hear it; the Almighty does not take notice of it.

Should he be informed that I want ¹  to speak? If a man speaks, surely he would be swallowed up!

Surely ¹  those favored by the Lord ²  will possess the land, but those rejected ³  by him will be wiped out. ⁴ 

Surely I am looking to you, ¹  O sovereign Lord. In you I take shelter. Do not expose me to danger! ² 

Surely ¹  I am more brutish ²  than any other human being, ³  and I do not have human understanding; ⁴ 

Surely, he ate in darkness every day of his life, ¹  and he suffered greatly with sickness and anger.

Surely the king’s authority ¹  is absolute; ²  no one can say ³  to him, “What are you doing?”

“As surely as I live, declares the sovereign Lord, ¹  you will not quote this proverb in Israel anymore!

Because he considered ¹  and turned from all the sins he had done, he will surely live; he will not die.

Surely they will be totally consumed ¹  like ²  entangled thorn bushes, ³  like the drink of drunkards, ⁴  like very ⁵  dry stubble.

Then ¹  Judas, the one who would betray him, said, “Surely not I, Rabbi?” Jesus ²  replied, “You have said it yourself.”

Surely you recall ¹  that I used to tell you these things while I was still with you.

For surely his concern is not for angels, but he is concerned for Abraham’s descendants.

but ¹  you must not eat ²  from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when ³  you eat from it you will surely die.” ⁴ 

After all, Abraham ¹  will surely become ²  a great and powerful nation, and all the nations on the earth will pronounce blessings on one another ³  using his name.

Abraham replied, “Because I thought, ¹  ‘Surely no one fears God in this place. They will kill me because of ²  my wife.’

Surely all the wealth that God snatched away from our father belongs to us and to our children. So now do everything God has told you.”
