For this reason a woman should have a symbol of authority ¹  on her head, because of the angels. ² 

A person should examine himself first, ¹  and in this way ²  let him eat the bread and drink of the cup.

For if only in this life we have hope in Christ, we should be pitied more than anyone.

But as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Each of you should be concerned ¹  not only ²  about your own interests, but about the interests of others as well. ³ 

Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer everyone.

From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. These things should not be so, my brothers and sisters. ¹ 

For ¹  this is the gospel ²  message ³  that you have heard from the beginning: that we should love one another, ⁴ 

“To ¹  what should I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces who call out to one another, ² 

Then you should have deposited my money with the bankers, ¹  and on my return I would have received my money back with interest! ² 

Pilate said to them, “Then what should I do with Jesus who is called the Christ?” ¹  They all said, “Crucify him!” ² 

So ¹  she went out and said to her mother, “What should I ask for?” Her mother ²  said, “The head of John the baptizer.” ³ 

“But when you see the abomination of desolation ¹  standing where it should not be (let the reader understand), then those in Judea must flee ²  to the mountains.

and sent them to Jesus ¹  to ask, ²  “Are you the one who is to come, ³  or should we look for another?”

Nevertheless I must ¹  go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, because it is impossible ²  that a prophet should be killed ³  outside Jerusalem.’ ⁴ 

Then ¹  the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What should I do? I will send my one dear son; ²  perhaps they will respect him.’

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, ¹  but that the world should be saved through him.

(Now the chief priests and the Pharisees ¹  had given orders that anyone who knew where Jesus ²  was should report it, so that they could arrest ³  him.) ⁴ 

I have come as a light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in darkness.

The evening meal ¹  was in progress, and the devil had already put into the heart ²  of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, that he should betray ³  Jesus. ⁴
