The righteousness of the blameless will make straight their way, ¹  but the wicked person will fall by his own wickedness. ² 

The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, ¹  but the faithless will be captured ²  by their own desires. ³ 

True ¹  righteousness leads to ²  life, but the one who pursues evil pursues it ³  to his own death. ⁴ 

I will denounce your so-called righteousness and your deeds, ¹  but they will not help you.

But above all pursue his kingdom ¹  and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

namely, the righteousness of God through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ ¹  for all who believe. For there is no distinction,

For what does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited ¹  to him as righteousness.” ² 

So even David himself speaks regarding the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:

For Christ is the end of the law, with the result that there is righteousness for everyone who believes.

For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousness ¹  and with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation. ² 

Just as it is written, “He ¹  has scattered widely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness remains forever.” ² 

Stand firm therefore, by fastening ¹  the belt of truth around your waist, ²  by putting on the breastplate of righteousness,

filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God.

In my zeal for God I persecuted the church. According to the righteousness stipulated in the law I was blameless.

Every scripture ¹  is inspired by God ²  and useful for teaching, for reproof, ³  for correction, and for training in righteousness,

For everyone who lives on milk is inexperienced in the message of righteousness, because he is an infant.

But, according to his promise, we are waiting for ¹  new heavens and a new earth, in which ²  righteousness truly resides. ³ 

If you know that he is righteous, you also know ¹  that everyone who practices righteousness has been fathered ²  by him.

Little children, let no one deceive you: The one who practices righteousness ¹  is righteous, just as Jesus ²  is righteous.

and be found in him, not because I have my own righteousness derived from the law, but because I have the righteousness that comes by way of Christ’s faithfulness ¹  – a righteousness from God that is in fact ²  based on Christ’s ³  faithfulness. ⁴
