But Simon Peter was left standing outside by the door. So the other disciple who was acquainted with the high priest came out and spoke to the slave girl who watched the door, ¹  and brought Peter inside.

Meanwhile Simon Peter was standing in the courtyard ¹  warming himself. They said to him, “You aren’t one of his disciples too, are you?” ²  Peter ³  denied it: “I am not!”

But Peter sent them all outside, ¹  knelt down, ²  and prayed. Turning ³  to the body, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” Then she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up. ⁴ 

Suddenly ¹  an angel of the Lord ²  appeared, and a light shone in the prison cell. He struck ³  Peter on the side and woke him up, saying, “Get up quickly!” And the chains fell off Peter’s ⁴  wrists. ⁵ 

When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed she did not open the gate, but ran back in and told ¹  them ²  that Peter was standing at the gate.

Peter ¹  said to him, ²  “Lord, if it is you, order me to come to you on the water.”

So he said, “Come.” Peter got out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.

So Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him: ¹  “God forbid, ²  Lord! This must not happen to you!”

Then Peter said ¹  to him, “Look, ²  we have left everything to follow you! ³  What then will there be for us?”

Peter ¹  said to him, “If they all fall away because of you, I will never fall away!”

He asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, ¹  “You are the Christ.” ² 

Now ¹  while Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the high priest’s slave girls ²  came by.

When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked directly at him and said, “You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus.”

For ¹  Peter ²  and all who were with him were astonished ³  at the catch of fish that they had taken,

Then ¹  he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter ²  answered, ³  “The Christ ⁴  of God.”

But Peter ¹  said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!” ² 

Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two disciples who heard what John said ¹  and followed Jesus. ² 

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.

Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, wash ¹  not only my feet, but also my hands and my head!”

So Simon Peter ¹  gestured to this disciple ²  to ask Jesus ³  who it was he was referring to. ⁴
