Barnabas wanted to bring John called Mark along with them too,

So Paul ¹  said, “Into what then were you baptized?” “Into John’s baptism,” they replied. ² 

Now ¹  John’s ²  disciples and the Pharisees ³  were fasting. ⁴  So ⁵  they came to Jesus ⁶  and said, “Why do the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples don’t fast?”

When ¹  John’s messengers had gone, Jesus ²  began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness ³  to see? A reed shaken by the wind? ⁴ 

But John ¹  tried to prevent ²  him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and yet you come to me?”

Now when John ¹  heard in prison about the deeds Christ ²  had done, he sent his disciples to ask a question: ³ 

Instructed by her mother, she said, “Give me the head of John the Baptist here on a platter.”

Then John’s ¹  disciples came and took the body and buried it and went and told Jesus.

They answered, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, ¹  and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

But if we say, ‘From people,’ we fear the crowd, for they all consider John to be a prophet.”

In the wilderness ¹  John the baptizer ²  began preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. ³ 

Now ¹  in those days Jesus came from Nazareth ²  in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan River. ³ 

Now ¹  as soon as they left the synagogue, ²  they entered Simon and Andrew’s house, with James and John.

to James and his brother John, the sons of Zebedee, ¹  he gave the name Boanerges (that is, “sons of thunder”);

For John had repeatedly told ¹  Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.” ² 

When John’s ¹  disciples heard this, they came and took his body and placed it in a tomb.

But if we say, ‘From people – ’” (they feared the crowd, for they all considered John to be truly a prophet).

He ¹  asked for a writing tablet ²  and wrote, ³  “His name is John.” And they were all amazed. ⁴ 

While the people were filled with anticipation ¹  and they all wondered ²  whether perhaps John ³  could be the Christ, ⁴ 

For John the Baptist has come ¹  eating no bread and drinking no wine, ²  and you say, ‘He has a demon!’ ³
