For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.

As they approached ¹  Micah’s house, they recognized the accent ²  of the young Levite. So they stopped ³  there and said to him, “Who brought you here? What are you doing in this place? What is your business here?” ⁴ 

Then Hushai reported to Zadok and Abiathar the priests, “Here is what Ahithophel has advised Absalom and the leaders ¹  of Israel to do, and here is what I have advised.

At that time they will say, ¹  “Look, here ²  is our God! We waited for him and he delivered us. Here ³  is the Lord! We waited for him. Let’s rejoice and celebrate his deliverance!”

“I made myself available to those who did not ask for me; ¹  I appeared to those who did not look for me. ²  I said, ‘Here I am! Here I am!’ to a nation that did not invoke ³  my name.

Some time after these things God tested ¹  Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am!” Abraham ²  replied.

But the Lord’s angel ¹  called to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Here I am!” he answered.

He went to his father and said, “My father!” Isaac ¹  replied, “Here I am. Which are you, my son?” ² 

“Is he well?” ¹  Jacob asked. They replied, “He is well. ²  Now look, here comes his daughter Rachel with the sheep.”

“It is not our custom here,” ¹  Laban replied, “to give the younger daughter in marriage ²  before the firstborn.

“See here,” Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I place ¹  you in authority over all the land of Egypt.” ² 

God spoke to Israel in a vision during the night ¹  and said, “Jacob, Jacob!” He replied, “Here I am!”

Then his brothers also came and threw themselves down before him; they said, “Here we are; we are your slaves.”

And Moses ¹  said to him, “If your presence does not go ²  with us, ³  do not take us up from here. ⁴ 

So Moses said to them, “Remain ¹  here and I will hear ²  what the Lord will command concerning you.”

Now therefore, please stay ¹  the night here also, that I may know what more the Lord might say to me.” ² 

And Balaam ¹  said to Balak, “Station yourself here ²  by your burnt offering, while I meet the Lord there.

Then Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars here for me, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams.”

Moses said to the Gadites and the Reubenites, “Must your brothers go to war while you ¹  remain here?

You must not do like we are doing here today, with everyone ¹  doing what seems best to him,
