(Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, for God has pronounced judgment ¹  against her on your behalf!) ² 

“It was said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife must give her a legal document.’ ¹ 

because John had repeatedly told ¹  him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.” ² 

so much that he promised with an oath ¹  to give her whatever she asked.

He swore to her, ¹  “Whatever you ask I will give you, up to half my kingdom.” ² 

They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her.” ¹ 

So ¹  he told them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her.

And if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.” ¹ 

The second married her and died without any children, and likewise the third.

The ¹  angel ²  came ³  to her and said, “Greetings, favored one, ⁴  the Lord is with you!” ⁵ 

So ¹  Mary stayed with Elizabeth ²  about three months ³  and then returned to her home.

They ¹  said to her, “But ²  none of your relatives bears this name.” ³ 

But Mary treasured up all these words, pondering in her heart what they might mean. ¹ 

Then ¹  he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. ²  Go in peace.”

But Jesus ¹  gently took her by the hand and said, ²  “Child, get up.”

Her ¹  parents were astonished, but he ordered them to tell no one ²  what had happened.

But the Lord ¹  answered her, ²  “Martha, Martha, ³  you are worried and troubled ⁴  about many things,

Then ¹  he placed his hands on her, and immediately ²  she straightened up and praised God.

In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will the woman be? ¹  For all seven had married her.” ² 

He ¹  said to her, “Go call your husband and come back here.” ²
