Later the men of Judah went down to attack the Canaanites living in the hill country, the Negev, and the lowlands. ¹ 

He ¹  moved to Hittite country and built a city. He named it Luz, and it has kept that name to this very day.

“Look! Enemies are gathering in the north like water rising in a river. ¹  They will be like an overflowing stream. They will overwhelm the whole country and everything in it like a flood. They will overwhelm the cities and their inhabitants. People will cry out in alarm. Everyone living in the country will cry out in pain.

Then he moved from there to the hill country east of Bethel ¹  and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord and worshiped the Lord. ²
