My child, guard the commands of your father and do not forsake the instruction of your mother.

A foolish child is a grief ¹  to his father, and bitterness to the mother who bore him. ² 

A foolish child ¹  is the ruin of his father, and a contentious wife ²  is like ³  a constant dripping. ⁴ 

Discipline your child, for ¹  there is hope, but do not set your heart ²  on causing his death. ³ 

Do not withhold discipline from a child; even if you strike him with the rod, he will not die.

The father of a righteous person will rejoice greatly; ¹  whoever fathers a wise child ²  will have joy in him.

Eat honey, ¹  my child, for it is good, and honey from the honeycomb is sweet to your taste.

The one who keeps the law ¹  is a discerning child, ²  but a companion of gluttons brings shame ³  to his parents. ⁴ 

A rod and reproof ¹  impart ²  wisdom, but a child who is unrestrained ³  brings shame ⁴  to his mother. ⁵ 

There will be so few trees left in his forest, a child will be able to count them. ¹ 

As a mother consoles a child, ¹  so I will console you, and you will be consoled over Jerusalem.”

The Lord said to Abraham, “Why ¹  did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really ²  have a child when I am old?’

The woman became pregnant ¹  and gave birth to a son. When ²  she saw that ³  he was a healthy ⁴  child, she hid him for three months.

opened it, ¹  and saw the child ²  – a boy, ³  crying! ⁴  – and she felt compassion ⁵  for him and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.”

Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Yes, do so.” ¹  So the young girl ²  went and got ³  the child’s mother. ⁴ 

If she bears a female child, she will be impure fourteen days as during her menstrual flow, and she will remain sixty-six days in ¹  blood purity. ² 

Manoah’s wife ¹  gave birth to a son and named him Samson. ²  The child grew and the Lord empowered ³  him.

Then David prayed to ¹  God for the child and fasted. ²  He would even ³  go and spend the night lying on the ground.

Train ¹  a child ²  in the way that he should go, ³  and when he is old he will not turn from it. ⁴ 

Folly is bound up ¹  in the heart of a child, ²  but the rod of discipline ³  will drive it far from him.
