But he denied it in front of them all: ¹  “I don’t know what you’re talking about!”

But ¹  she was greatly troubled ²  by his words and began to wonder about the meaning of this greeting. ³ 

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Absolutely not!

Am I saying that idols or food sacrificed to them amount to anything?

Then some of his disciples said to one another, “What is the meaning of what he is saying, ¹  ‘In a little while you ²  will not see me; again after a little while, you ³  will see me,’ and, ‘because I am going to the Father’?” ⁴ 

When your children ¹  ask you later on, “What are the stipulations, statutes, and ordinances that the Lord our God commanded you?”

The ship’s captain approached him and said, “What are you doing asleep? ¹  Get up! Cry out ²  to your god! Perhaps your god ³  might take notice of us ⁴  so that we might not die!”

Then Paul replied, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking ¹  my heart? For I am ready not only to be tied up, ²  but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “Both dreams of Pharaoh have the same meaning. ¹  God has revealed ²  to Pharaoh what he is about to do. ³ 

Moses said to the Gadites and the Reubenites, “Must your brothers go to war while you ¹  remain here?

Then all the nations will ask, “Why has the Lord done all this to this land? What is this fierce, heated display of anger ¹  all about?”

When Eli heard the outcry, ¹  he said, “What is this commotion?” ²  The man quickly came and told Eli.

Do you see a person skilled ¹  in his work? He will take his position before kings; he will not take his position ²  before obscure people. ³ 

But Jesus ¹  looked straight at them and said, “Then what is the meaning of that which is written: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone’? ² 

Now if their transgression means riches for the world and their defeat means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full restoration ¹  bring?

For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?

Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? ¹  If the dead are not raised at all, then why are they baptized for them?

Why ²  do the nations rebel? ³  Why ⁴  are the countries ⁵  devising ⁶  plots that will fail? ⁷ 

But they deceived him with their words, ¹  and lied to him. ² 

The one who denounces ¹  his neighbor lacks wisdom, ²  but the one who has discernment ³  keeps silent. ⁴
