As for me, the Lord was also angry with me on your account. He said, “You also will not be able to go there.

If only we had been satisfied to live on the other side of the Jordan! O Lord, what can I say now that Israel has retreated ¹  before its enemies?

Have pity on me, my friends, have pity on me, for the hand of God has struck me.

If you say, ‘How we will pursue him, since the root of the trouble is found in him!’ ¹ 

Would he contend ¹  with me with great power? No, he would only pay attention to me. ² 

The deep ¹  says, ‘It is not with ²  me.’ And the sea says, ‘It is not with me.’

Do not turn me over to my enemies, ¹  for false witnesses who want to destroy me testify against me. ² 

By this ¹  I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does ²  not triumph ³  over me.

I will not even consider doing what is dishonest. ¹  I hate doing evil; ²  I will have no part of it. ³ 

At that time ¹  you will say: “I praise you, O Lord, for even though you were angry with me, your anger subsided, and you consoled me.

As he spoke with me, I fell into a trance with my face to the ground. But he touched me and stood me upright. ¹ 

Then ¹  a hand touched me and set me on my hands and knees. ²

Then I asked the angelic messenger ¹  who was speaking with me, “What are these, sir?”
