The Lord’s spirit began to control him ¹  in Mahaneh Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.

Then the spirit of the Lord will rush upon you and you will prophesy with them. You will be changed into a different person.

The Spirit of God rushed upon Saul when he heard these words, and he became very angry.

Now the Spirit of the Lord had turned away from Saul, and an evil spirit ¹  from the Lord tormented him.

Then Saul’s servants said to him, “Look, an evil spirit from God is tormenting you!”

The depths ¹  of the sea were exposed; the inner regions ²  of the world were uncovered by the Lord’s battle cry, ³  by the powerful breath from his nose. ⁴ 

Look, I will take control of his mind; ¹  he will receive ²  a report and return to his own land. I will cut him down ³  with a sword in his own land.”’”

The Lord stirred up against Jehoram the Philistines ¹  and the Arabs who lived beside the Cushites.

Remember ¹  that my life is but a breath, that ²  my eyes will never again ³  see happiness.

Not so with the wicked! Instead ¹  they are like wind-driven chaff. ² 

He mounted ¹  a winged angel ²  and flew; he glided ³  on the wings of the wind. ⁴ 

The depths ¹  of the sea ²  were exposed; the inner regions ³  of the world were uncovered by ⁴  your battle cry, ⁵  Lord, by the powerful breath from your nose. ⁶ 

I grind them as fine windblown dust; ¹  I beat them underfoot ²  like clay ³  in the streets.

The Lord is near the brokenhearted; he delivers ¹  those who are discouraged. ² 

The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit ¹  – O God, a humble and repentant heart ²  you will not reject. ³ 

but when the hot wind ¹  blows by, it disappears, and one can no longer even spot the place where it once grew.

and lays the beams of the upper rooms of his palace on the rain clouds. ¹  He makes the clouds his chariot, and travels along on the wings of the wind. ² 

He causes the clouds to arise from the end of the earth, makes lightning bolts accompany the rain, and brings the wind out of his storehouses.

and ears, but cannot hear. Indeed, they cannot breathe. ¹ 

It is better to be lowly in spirit ¹  with the afflicted than to share the spoils ²  with the proud.
