After Moses the Lord’s servant died, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ assistant:

Now you are condemned to perpetual servitude as woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God.” ¹ 

The other half of Manasseh, ¹  Reuben, and Gad received their allotted tribal lands beyond the Jordan, ²  just as Moses, the Lord’s servant, had assigned them.

The Ephraimites ¹  did not conquer the Canaanites living in Gezer. The Canaanites live among the Ephraimites to this very day and do hard labor as their servants.

When Gaal son of Ebed came out and stood at the entrance to the city’s gate, Abimelech and his men got up from their hiding places.

So David was no longer willing to bring the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. David left it in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

Now there was a servant from Saul’s house named Ziba, so he was summoned to David. The king asked him, “Are you Ziba?” He replied, “At your service.” ¹

Jeroboam son of Nebat, one of Solomon’s servants, rebelled against ¹  the king. He was an Ephraimite ²  from Zeredah whose mother was a widow named Zeruah.

Jehu assembled all the people and said to them, “Ahab worshiped ¹  Baal a little; Jehu will worship ²  him with great devotion. ³
