They said, “We are happy to give you earrings.” ¹  So they ²  spread out a garment, and each one threw an earring from his plunder onto it.

Now look! Here is the king you have chosen – the one that you asked for! Look, the Lord has given you a king!

(Now Saul had given his daughter Michal, David’s wife, to Paltiel son of Laish, who was from Gallim.)

Nathan replied to the king, “You should go ¹  and do whatever you have in mind, ²  for the Lord is with you.”

That night the Lord told Nathan, ¹ 

Nathan told David all these words that were revealed to him. ¹ 

He put his brother Abishai in charge of the rest of the army ¹  and they were deployed ²  against the Ammonites.

and sent word through Nathan the prophet that he should be named Jedidiah ¹  for the Lord’s sake.

I, the servant of my lord ¹  the king, give it all to the king!” Araunah also told the king, “May the Lord your God show you favor!”

But he did not invite Nathan the prophet, Benaiah, the elite warriors, ¹  or his brother Solomon.

So Hiram supplied the cedars and evergreens Solomon needed, ¹ 

He put one in Bethel ¹  and the other in Dan.

Obadiah ¹  said, “What sin have I committed that you are ready to hand your servant over to Ahab for execution? ² 

Look, I will take control of his mind; ¹  he will receive ²  a report and return to his own land. I will cut him down ³  with a sword in his own land.”’”

These are the names of children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,

So David became famous ¹  in all the lands; the Lord caused all the nations to fear him. ² 

That day David first gave to Asaph and his colleagues this song of thanks to the Lord:

Nathan said to David, “You should do whatever you have in mind, ¹  for God is with you.”

That night God told Nathan the prophet, ¹
