There is a way that seems right to a person, ¹  but its end is the way that leads to death. ² 

All of a person’s ways seem right in his own opinion, ¹  but the Lord evaluates ²  the motives. ³ 

The way of the guilty person ¹  is devious, ²  but as for the pure, ³  his way is upright.

An unjust person is an abomination to the righteous, and the one who lives an upright life is an abomination to the wicked. ¹ 

Then he brought me to the gate that faced toward the east.

When the prince enters, he will come by way of the porch of the gate and will go out the same way.

So ¹  I will pounce on them like a lion; ²  like a leopard I will lurk by the path.

He led me out by way of the north gate and brought me around the outside of the outer gate that faces toward the east; I noticed ¹  that the water was trickling out from the south side.

We must go ¹  on a three-day journey ²  into the desert and sacrifice ³  to the Lord our God, just as he is telling us.” ⁴

Now it is ordinarily an eleven-day journey ¹  from Horeb ²  to Kadesh Barnea ³  by way of Mount Seir. ⁴ 

You who ride on light-colored female donkeys, who sit on saddle blankets, ¹  you who walk on the road, pay attention!

He then asked, “Which invasion route are we going to take?” ¹  Jehoram ²  answered, “By the road through the Desert of Edom.”

They seized her and took her into the precincts of the royal palace through the horses’ entrance. ¹  There she was executed.

He deprives the leaders of the earth ¹  of their understanding; ²  he makes them wander in a trackless desert waste. ³ 

¹ “You say, ²  ‘He is foam ³  on the face of the waters; ⁴  their portion of the land is cursed so that no one goes to their vineyard. ⁵ 

If a person ¹  does not repent, God sharpens his sword ²  and prepares to shoot his bow. ³ 

Evil men draw their swords and prepare their bows, to bring down ¹  the oppressed and needy, and to slaughter those who are godly. ² 

This is the way ¹  of an adulterous ²  woman: she eats and wipes her mouth ³  and says, “I have not done wrong.” ⁴ 

Turn aside from the way, stray off the path. ¹  Remove from our presence the Holy One of Israel.” ²
