Offer to the Lord a song of thanks! ¹  Sing praises to our God to the accompaniment of a harp!

A poor person makes supplications, ¹  but a rich man answers harshly. ² 

When that time comes, ¹  sing about a delightful vineyard! ² 

He went up from there to Penuel and made the same request. ¹  The men of Penuel responded the same way the men of Succoth had. ² 

Answer me, O Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, O Lord, are the true God ¹  and that you are winning back their allegiance.” ² 

The people were silent and did not respond, for the king had ordered, “Don’t respond to him.”

then the ground will respond to the grain, the new wine, and the olive oil; and they will respond to ‘God Plants’ (Jezreel)! ¹ 

The sons of Heth answered Abraham, ¹ 

You replied to me that what I had said to you was good.

If a false ¹  witness testifies against another person and accuses him of a crime, ² 

The wisest of her ladies ¹  answer; indeed she even thinks to herself,

They cry out, ¹  but there is no one to help them; ²  they cry out to the Lord, ³  but he does not answer them.

“Call now! ¹  Is there anyone who will answer you? ²  To which of the holy ones ³  will you turn? ⁴ 

“How much less, ¹  then, can I answer him ²  and choose my words ³  to argue ⁴  with ⁵  him! ⁶ 

Although ¹  I am innocent, ²  I could not answer him; ³  I could only plead ⁴  with my judge ⁵  for mercy.

If I summoned him, and he answered me, ¹  I would not believe ²  that he would be listening to my voice –

For he ¹  is not a human being like I am, that ²  I might answer him, that we might come ³  together in judgment.

“Should not this ¹  abundance of words be answered, ²  or should this ³  talkative man ⁴  be vindicated? ⁵ 

“Does a wise man answer with blustery knowledge, ¹  or fill his belly ²  with the east wind? ³ 

Your own mouth condemns ¹  you, not I; your own lips testify against ²  you.
