A king’s wrath ¹  is like ²  a messenger of death, ³  but a wise person appeases it. ⁴ 

There is a way that seems right to a person, ¹  but its end is the way that leads to death. ² 

Death and life are in the power ¹  of the tongue, ²  and those who love its use ³  will eat its fruit.

Making a fortune ¹  by a lying tongue is like ²  a vapor driven back and forth; ³  they seek death. ⁴ 

Deliver those being taken away to death, and hold back those slipping to the slaughter. ¹ 

A good reputation ¹  is better ²  than precious ³  perfume; ⁴  likewise, ⁵  the day of one’s ⁶  death ⁷  is better than the day of one’s birth. ⁸ 

In the year King Ahaz died, ¹  this message was revealed: ² 

‘Bring me some wild game and prepare for me some tasty food. Then I will eat ¹  it and bless you ²  in the presence of the Lord ³  before I die.’

So they sent word ¹  to Joseph, saying, “Your father gave these instructions before he died:

These are the ones that are unclean to you among all the swarming things. Anyone who touches them when they die will be unclean until evening.

Now Aaron was 123 years old when he died in Mount Hor.

If a person commits a sin punishable by death and is executed, and you hang the corpse ¹  on a tree,

“Look! I have set before you today life and prosperity on the one hand, and death and disaster on the other.

This is the blessing Moses the man of God pronounced upon the Israelites before his death.

Moses was 120 years old when he died, but his eye was not dull ¹  nor had his vitality ²  departed.

Saul and Jonathan were greatly loved ¹  during their lives, and not even in their deaths were they separated. They were swifter than eagles, stronger than lions.

The king chanted the following lament for Abner: “Should Abner have died like a fool?

Now Michal, Saul’s daughter, had no children to the day of her death.

Jehoiada grew old and died at the age of 130. ¹ 

After Jehoiada died, the officials of Judah visited the king and declared their loyalty to him. ¹  The king listened to their advice. ²
