“Look, my servant will succeed! ¹  He will be elevated, lifted high, and greatly exalted ²  –

Moab’s destruction is at hand. Disaster will come on it quickly.

unless ¹  you have utterly rejected us ²  and are angry with us beyond measure. ³ 

The Lord says, ¹  “Look! I will ²  make you a weak nation; ³  you will be greatly despised!

but with Cain and his offering he was not pleased. ¹  So Cain became very angry, ²  and his expression was downcast. ³ 

The waters completely overwhelmed ¹  the earth, and the ark floated ²  on the surface of the waters.

When Abram entered Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.

So the Lord said, “The outcry against ¹  Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so blatant ² 

The man became wealthy. ¹  His influence continued to grow ²  until he became very prominent.

Then Abimelech said to Isaac, “Leave us and go elsewhere, ¹  for you have become much more powerful ²  than we are.”

Israel settled in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen, and they owned land there. They were fruitful and increased rapidly in number.

Chariots and horsemen also went up with him, so it was a very large entourage. ¹ 

A mixed multitude ¹  also went up with them, and flocks and herds – a very large number of cattle. ² 

When the sound of the horn grew louder and louder, ¹  Moses was speaking ²  and God was answering him with a voice. ³ 

(Now the man Moses was very humble, ¹  more so than any man on the face of the earth.)

When Moses told ¹  these things to all the Israelites, the people mourned ²  greatly.

You must love ¹  the Lord your God with your whole mind, ²  your whole being, ³  and all your strength. ⁴ 

The Lord was also angry enough at Aaron to kill him, but at that time I prayed for him ¹  too.

He brought the tribute payment to King Eglon of Moab. (Now Eglon was a very fat man.)

Israel was so severely weakened by Midian that the Israelites cried out to the Lord for help.
