If there is an angel beside him, one mediator ¹  out of a thousand, to tell a person what constitutes his uprightness; ² 

O Lord my God, if I have done what they say, ¹  or am guilty of unjust actions, ² 

The Lord looks down from heaven ¹  at the human race, ²  to see if there is anyone who is wise ³  and seeks God. ⁴ 

Then ¹  observers ²  will say, “Yes indeed, the godly are rewarded! ³  Yes indeed, there is a God who judges ⁴  in the earth!”

and ears, but cannot hear. Indeed, they cannot breathe. ¹ 

Do not say to your neighbor, “Go! Return tomorrow and I will give it,” when ¹  you have it with you at the time. ² 

Discipline your child, for ¹  there is hope, but do not set your heart ²  on causing his death. ³ 

Likewise, know ¹  that wisdom is sweet ²  to your soul; if you find it, ³  you will have a future, ⁴  and your hope will not be cut off.

I realized that wisdom is preferable to folly, ¹  just as light is preferable to darkness:

Two people are better than one, because they can reap ¹  more benefit ²  from their labor.

Here is ¹  a misfortune ²  on earth ³  that I have seen: Wealth hoarded by its owner to his own misery.

Here is ¹  another misfortune ²  that I have seen on earth, ³  and it weighs ⁴  heavily on people: ⁵ 

The more one argues with words, the less he accomplishes. ¹  How does that benefit him? ² 

For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, for the oppression ¹  of the king ²  is severe upon his victim. ³ 

I have seen another ¹  misfortune ²  on the earth: ³  It is an error a ruler makes. ⁴ 

Those prophets are just prophesying lies. They are prophesying the delusions of their own minds. ¹ 

From the time ¹  Potiphar ²  appointed him over his household and over all that he owned, the Lord blessed ³  the Egyptian’s household for Joseph’s sake. The blessing of the Lord was on everything that he had, both ⁴  in his house and in his fields. ⁵ 

We have enough straw and grain for our donkeys, and there is enough food and wine for me, your female servant, ¹  and the young man who is with your servants. ²  We lack nothing.”

Then King Zedekiah had him brought to the palace. There he questioned him privately and asked him, ¹  “Is there any message from the Lord?” Jeremiah answered, “Yes, there is.” Then he announced, ²  “You will be handed over to the king of Babylon.” ³ 

What if there are fifty godly people in the city? Will you really wipe it out and not spare ¹  the place for the sake of the fifty godly people who are in it?
