(just as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male ¹  will be set apart to the Lord” ² ),

Just ¹  as it was ²  in the days of Noah, ³  so too it will be in the days of the Son of Man.

Likewise, just as it was ¹  in the days of Lot, people ²  were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building;

Just as ¹  Moses lifted up the serpent ²  in the wilderness, ³  so must the Son of Man be lifted up, ⁴ 

“I give you a new commandment – to love ¹  one another. Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. ² 

“Just as the Father has loved me, I have also loved you; remain ¹  in my love.

My commandment is this – to love one another just as I have loved you. ¹ 

just as you have given him authority over all humanity, ¹  so that he may give eternal life to everyone you have given him. ² 

The glory ¹  you gave to me I have given to them, that they may be one just as we are one –

And God, who knows the heart, ¹  has testified ²  to them by giving them the Holy Spirit just as he did to us, ³ 

Simeon ¹  has explained ²  how God first concerned himself ³  to select ⁴  from among the Gentiles ⁵  a people for his name.

As it is written, “For your sake we encounter death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” ¹ 

but as it is written: “Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.” ¹ 

These things happened as examples for us, so that we will not crave evil things as they did.

And let us not be immoral, as some of them were, and twenty-three thousand died in a single day. ¹ 

And let us not put Christ ¹  to the test, as some of them did, and were destroyed by snakes. ² 

I praise you ¹  because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions just as I passed them on to you.

It is one and the same Spirit, distributing as he decides to each person, who produces all these things.

But as a matter of fact, God has placed each of the members in the body just as he decided.

But God gives it a body just as he planned, and to each of the seeds a body of its own.
