“But when you see Jerusalem ¹  surrounded ²  by armies, then know that its ³  desolation ⁴  has come near.

Then the woman left her water jar, went off into the town and said to the people, ¹ 

Now a certain man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village where Mary and her sister Martha lived. ¹

The city’s ¹  wall is made ²  of jasper and the city is pure gold, like transparent glass. ³ 

Its gates will never be closed during the day ¹  (and ²  there will be no night there). ³

For this reason I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a people ¹  who will produce its fruit.

“Learn ¹  this parable from the fig tree: Whenever its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near.
