Now ¹  Jesus went up the mountain ²  and called for those he wanted, and they came to him.

Send them away so that they can go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy something for themselves to eat.”

But at this statement, the man ¹  looked sad and went away sorrowful, for he was very rich. ² 

So ¹  they went and found a colt tied at a door, outside in the street, and untied it.

Then ¹  Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Jesus into their hands. ² 

When his time of service was over, ¹  he went to his home.

As ¹  they were walking ²  along the road, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” ³ 

Then people ¹  will say to you, ‘Look, there he is!’ ²  or ‘Look, here he is!’ Do not go out or chase after them. ³ 

He went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers of the temple guard ¹  how he might ²  betray Jesus, ³  handing him over to them. ⁴ 

Then the woman left her water jar, went off into the town and said to the people, ¹ 

The man went away and informed the Jewish leaders ¹  that Jesus was the one who had made him well.

After this many of his disciples quit following him ¹  and did not accompany him ²  any longer.

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.

But some of them went to the Pharisees ¹  and reported to them ²  what Jesus had done.

So when Jesus ¹  said to them, “I am he,” they retreated ²  and fell to the ground. ³ 

Therefore after I have completed this and have safely delivered this bounty to them, ¹  I will set out for Spain by way of you,

nor did I go up to Jerusalem ¹  to see those who were apostles before me, but right away I departed to Arabia, ²  and then returned to Damascus.

The first woe has passed, but ¹  two woes are still coming after these things!

The second woe has come and gone; ¹  the third is coming quickly.

Jesus sent out these twelve, instructing them as follows: ¹  “Do not go to Gentile regions ²  and do not enter any Samaritan town. ³
