Jacob called for his sons and said, “Gather together so I can tell you ¹  what will happen to you in the future. ² 

all that the Lord has commanded you by the authority ¹  of Moses, from the day that the Lord commanded Moses and continuing through your future generations –

And now, I am about to go ¹  back to my own people. Come now, and I will advise you as to what this people will do to your people in the future.” ² 

but with whoever stands with us here today before the Lord our God as well as those not with us here today. ¹ 

The stones ¹  will be a reminder to you. ²  When your children ask someday, ‘Why are these stones important to you?’

He told the Israelites, “When your children someday ask their fathers, ‘What do these stones represent?’ ¹ 

No one remembers the former events, ¹  nor will anyone remember ²  the events that are yet to happen; ³  they will not be remembered by the future generations. ⁴ 

Now go, write it ¹  down on a tablet in their presence, ²  inscribe it on a scroll, so that it might be preserved for a future time as an enduring witness. ³ 

who frustrates the omens of the empty talkers ¹  and humiliates ²  the omen readers, who overturns the counsel of the wise men ³  and makes their advice ⁴  seem foolish,

David by foreseeing this ¹  spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, ²  that he was neither abandoned to Hades, ³  nor did his body ⁴  experience ⁵  decay. ⁶ 

and if he turned to ashes the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah when he condemned them to destruction, ¹  having appointed ²  them to serve as an example ³  to future generations of the ungodly, ⁴ 

but as a reminder to us and you, ¹  and to our descendants who follow us, that we will honor the Lord in his very presence ²  with burnt offerings, sacrifices, and tokens of peace. ³  Then in the future your descendants will not be able to say to our descendants, ‘You have no right to worship the Lord.’ ⁴ 

Tie up the scroll as legal evidence, ¹  seal the official record of God’s instructions and give it to my followers. ² 

The punishment ¹  of Ephraim has been decreed; ²  his punishment is being stored up for the future.

But Judah will reside securely forever, and Jerusalem will be secure ¹  from one generation to the next.

He went ¹  to be registered with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him, ²  and who was expecting a child.

For the creation eagerly waits for the revelation of the sons of God.

so that your future generations may know that I made the Israelites live in temporary shelters when I brought them out from the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’”

If a resident foreigner is living ¹  with you – or whoever is among you ²  in future generations ³  – and prepares an offering made by fire as a pleasing aroma to the Lord, he must do it the same way you are to do it. ⁴ 

One statute must apply ¹  to you who belong to the congregation and to the resident foreigner who is living among you, as a permanent ²  statute for your future generations. You and the resident foreigner will be alike ³  before the Lord.
