Look, the pay you have held back from the workers who mowed your fields cries out against you, and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.

He did amazing things in the sight of their ancestors, in the land of Egypt, in the region of Zoan. ¹ 

The produce of the land is seized ¹  by all of them, even the king is served ²  by the fields. ³

In that day people will sing this taunt song to you – they will mock you with this lament: ¹  ‘We are completely destroyed; they sell off ²  the property of my people. How they remove it from me! ³  They assign our fields to the conqueror.’ ⁴ 

He enabled him ¹  to travel over the high terrain of the land, and he ate of the produce of the fields. He provided honey for him from the cliffs, ²  and olive oil ³  from the hardest of ⁴  rocks, ⁵ 

Now, come up ¹  at night with your men ²  and set an ambush in the field outside the city. ³ 

Let the fields and everything in them celebrate! Then let the trees of the forest shout with joy

Establish your work outside and get your fields ready; afterward build ¹  your house. ²
