Then David called one of the soldiers ¹  and said, “Come here and strike him down!” So he struck him down, and he died.

Yes, but the time will certainly come,” ¹  says the Lord, ²  “when I will punish her idols. Throughout her land the mortally wounded will groan.

These are the things you must do: Speak the truth, each of you, to one another. Practice true and righteous judgment in your courts. ¹ 

He judges the world fairly; he makes just legal decisions for the nations. ¹ 

Rise up, O God, and execute judgment on the earth! For you own ¹  all the nations.

Now when they heard this, they became furious ¹  and wanted to execute them. ² 

for it is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be in fear, for it does not bear the sword in vain. It is God’s servant to administer retribution on the wrongdoer.

The Lord said to Moses, “Arrest all the leaders ¹  of the people, and hang them up ²  before the Lord in broad daylight, ³  so that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Israel.”

Do not sweep me away ¹  with sinners, or execute me along with violent people, ² 

when God arose to execute judgment, and to deliver all the oppressed of the earth. (Selah)

O sovereign Lord, ¹  at your right hand he strikes down ²  kings in the day he unleashes his anger. ³ 

I know ¹  that the Lord defends the cause of the oppressed and vindicates the poor. ²
